Sonic the Hedgehog was on hand recently as Sega of America opened its new North American headquarters at Innovation Office Park in Irvine.
The new headquarters for Sega and its myriad publishing departments spans some 31,000 square feet, room for up to 235 employees, the company said. Staff also includes those working at the Atlus Games subsidiary.
“The opening of the new Sega of America headquarters in Irvine represents a new era for one of the gaming world’s most esteemed brands,” said Shuji Utsumi, co-chief operating officer of Sega Corp. and CEO of Sega of America, in a statement. “…This new space helps to foster a genial and team-oriented culture to reinforce that purpose and create new stories and worlds that will entertain gamers for generations.”
Irvine Co. is the landlord at Innovation Office Park which spans 100 to 450 Progress along the southbound 5 freeway.

The Cannon’s Hotel Development Site in Dana Point, the former home of Cannon’s Restaurant, has been sold to an unidentified investor, according to Sonnenblick-Eichner Co.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The property has been entitled for a 100-room boutique hotel first approved in 2018 by the city, followed by the California Coastal Commission.
“Our client ultimately decided to transact with a locally based development firm who will be redeveloping the property,” said Todd Bedingfield, a senior managing director at Sonnenblick-Eichner.
The bluff-top hotel will overlook the Dana Point Harbor and Marina, which is undergoing a $338 million revitalization.
